Greece ready to host Olympic Games

    BEIJING, Aug. 5 (Xinhuanet) --  Greece says it is now ready to host the Olympic Games with absolute safety.

    The government committee for the Games made the promise after a meeting chaired by Prime Minister Costas Karamanlis and attended by all parties involved in organizing the Games, including Athens Mayor Dora Bakoyianni and Athens Olympics Organizing Committee chief Gianna Angelopoulos-Daskalaki.     The meeting focused on the final details of arrangements for the Olympics and concluded that there were no outstanding problems.

    Public Order Minister George Voulgarakis stresses that everything is going according to plan and the security systems are working perfectly.

    The Games will last from August 13 - 29.
