US soldier killed, two wounded in roadside bomb in Iraq

    BAGHDAD, Aug. 1 (Xinhuanet) -- One US soldier was killed and two were wounded on Sunday when their patrol were attacked by insurgents with a roadside bomb, the US army said.

    The attack occurred near the restive town of Samarra, 100 km north of Baghdad at around 12:30 pm (0830 GMT), said a statement.
