BAGHDAD, July 29 (Xinhuanet) -- Gunmen ambushed a convoy of the Iraqi border guards near the Iranian border on Thursday morning, killing one guard and wounding nine others, Qatar-based al-Jazeera TV channel reported.

The attack took place north of the flashpoint city of Baquba, northeast of Baghdad, when the gunmen fired rocket-propelled grenades, mortar rounds and small arms at the 30-man convoy which was heading to Baquba from Khanaqin near the Iranian border, the channel said.

The clashes lasted for two hours as the gunmen, in 10 vehicles, chased after the guards' convoy, it added.  Enditem
