Moore joins $100m club

BEIJING, July 26 (Xinhuanet) -- Michael Moore has joined the 100 million dollar club as his political assault "Fahrenheit 9/11" became the first documentary ever to top that mark at the American box office, CRIENGLISH.com reported Monday.

The previous best domestic gross for a feature-length documentary was 21 million US dollars for Moore's Academy Award-winning "Bowling for Columbine."

That film took nine months to hit that mark, while Fahrenheit 9/11 did more business, 23 million US dollars, in just its first weekend.

Moore says the polarising effects of September 11 and its aftermath have boosted the public's appetite for political documentaries such as Fahrenheit 9/11, Control Room and Outfoxed. Enditem
