BAGHDAD, July 23 (Xinhuanet) -- Nine Iraqis were killed and 10 injured when a van they were travelling in hit a US military tank north of Baghdad Thursday night, a US military spokesman said Friday.

    The van was carrying at least 19 people, according to the spokesman, who said the accident took place at about 10:00 p.m.(1800 GMT) near Taji, some 30 km north of Baghdad.

    The spokesman said investigation into the cause of the accident was underway, without elaborating. Enditem
