Pakistan, India agree to enhance parliament cooperation

    ISLAMABAD, July 22 (Xinhuanet) -- Pakistani Senate Chairman Muhammad Soomro and Indian Minister for External Affairs Natwar Singh have agreed to enhance cooperation between the parliaments of Pakistan and India through frequent exchange of visit of parliamentarians.

    Natwar Singh, who is currently visiting Pakistan, disclosed this on Thursday while responding to questions after meeting with Soomro at his residence, the local news agency News Network International reported.

    "We have agreed to form a group of young parliamentarians of both the countries especially those who are in the age group of 25to 35 years aimed at strengthening bilateral ties between the two parliaments," Natwar Singh said.

    He said the program on the Parliamentarians' visit would be worked out between the secretariats of the two countries.

    Talking about his discussion with Soomro during the meeting, hesaid they discussed matters relating to parliaments, friendship and diplomacy but not politics in the meeting.

    Regarding relations between Pakistan and India after his visit,Natwar Singh said, "I hope bilateral relations between the two countries will be improved." He said he also extended invitation to Soomro to visit India.

    Talking to reporters after the meeting, Soomro said, "I have accepted invitation to visit India and dates will be worked out between the two foreign offices of Pakistan and India."

    Regarding the meeting with Natwar Singh, he said, "I think it was a friendly meeting and we discussed matters relating to both the parliaments." Enditem¡¡
