TEHRAN, July 18 (Xinhuanet) -- Iran on Sunday dismissed a US report that Tehran may have been related to the Sep. 11 terrorist attack, terming it as "fabricated".

    "We have very long borders and it is impossible to totally control them. It is normal that several people could pass our borders illegally without being found by us," Foreign Ministry spokesman Hamid-Reza Asefi told reporters.

    Asefi also cited similar incidents on the border between the United States and Mexico.

    "Similarly, more people may cross the border between Mexico and the US," he said.

    Asefi made this comment in reaction to a Sep.11 Commission report, which is due to be issued on Thursday.

    The report says Iran may have facilitated the Sep. 11 attacks in the United States through providing eight to ten al-Qaida members with safe passage to and from terrorist training camps in Afghanistan.

    Asefi insisted that Iran would remain committed to fighting terrorism, saying "Iran has proved that it is against terrorism."

    Relation between Iran and the Unite States has been tensed sincethe Islamic Revolution of Iran in 1979.

    The United States accuses Iran of supporting terrorists and seeking nuclear weapons. In return, Iran terms the United States as the enemy of all Islamic countries. Enditem
