Two killed, 25 injured in car bomb blast south of Baghdad

    BAGHDAD, July 17 (Xinhuanet) -- Two person killed and 25 others wounded in a car bomb explosion outside an Iraqi National Guard headquarters in Mahmudiyah city south of Baghdad on Saturday, the Health Ministry said.

    The blast took place outside an Iraqi National Guard headquarters in Mahmudiyah, about 40 km south of Baghdad at about 7:45 a.m., while a number of recruits were waiting to enter the headquarters, a Health Ministry spokesman said.

    Six of those injured were National Guardsmen while the rest were prospective recruits, the spokesman said.

    Insurgents have repeatedly targeted police and security officials in Iraq, because they are seen as collaborators with the Americans. Enditem
