GUIYANG, July 16 (Xinhuanet) -- Four people died and eight others were still receiving emergency treatment after eating poisonous mushrooms in Bijie City, southwest China's Guizhou Province.

On July 10, 12 people from two families of Yingzhong Village of Yachi Town, Bijie City, ate wild mushrooms they picked up from a local mountain and all of them reported symptoms of chest pain, vomiting, diarrhea, headache and weak limbs. None of them, aged from three to 65, went to hospital for a medical check-up immediately.

On July 15, the conditions of all six members of one family deteriorated and were rushed to Bijie City People's Hospital and the Friendship Hotel. A three-year-old child died the same day after failing to respond to medical treatment. Three more of the same family died on Friday in hospital and two others still remained in hospital for medical observation.

Six people from the other family were hospitalized Friday and were still under emergency treatment. Enditem
