KABUL, July 15 (Xinhuanet) -- At least two militias were killed and another security guard injured in Chagcharan, the provincial capital of northwest Ghor province in Afghanistan Wednesday night as local militias clashed with Afghan National Army (ANA), a UN spokesman said Thursday.

กกกก"Last night at about 7 p.m. there was a skirmish between local militias and members of Afghan National Army (ANA) who were stationed at a check point in Chagcharan, Ghor province. We understand that two militiamen were killed,' David Singh of UN Assistance Mission in Afghanistan told reporters here.

The injured is a security guard of the Afghan Joint Electoral Management Body (JEMB) in the far-flung city.

He gave no reason for the incident or motivation behind it which prompted authorities to shift 17 national and international staff of JEMB, UN and other agencies from Chagcharan to relativelypeaceful city of Heart Thursday morning.

The incident, he added prompted a crowd of people to come out to the streets and chant anti-ANA slogans.

"This crowd eventually moved towards the compound of the Joint Electoral Management Body (JEMB). Eight people entered the office and vandalized it, ...stoned vehicles and windows as well as destroyed furniture," Singh further said.

The remote province of Ghor was the scene of factional fightingbetween a local commander and governor last month in which some 10people were killed. Enditem
