BEIJING, July 12 (Xinhuanet) -- Users of Teflon non-stick cookware in China
have an increased risk of cancer as US chemical maker DuPont was accused of
failing to report on human health risks from a key ingredient in Teflon.
This kind of cookware is very popular in the country and their content is mainly
Teflon provided by DuPont, according to Monday's CRI online.
But the company thinks that the Teflon products are not harmful to human
health.
Authorities in Beijing and Guangzhou cities are examining the cookware and
checking their chemical content.
Any products that pose a threat to health will be removed from the shelves
immediately.
The US Environmental Protection Agency is now planning to impose a 300
million dollar fine on DuPont.
