JERUSALEM, July 11 (Xinhuanet) -- Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon ordered on Sunday to continue constructing the security wall in the West Bank despite a world court's ruling against it.

    The order came two days after the International Court of Justice (ICJ) ruled that the separation fence contravenes international law and must be dismantled, and compensations must bepaid to the Palestinians whose properties were confiscated for its construction.

    The building work of the fence is in line with last month's ruling by Israeli High Court of Justice, Sharon said.

    The Israeli court decided on June 30 that a fence built in the West Bank for security reasons is legal, but the fence must balance security considerations against the needs of local Palestinian residents.

    Earlier on Sunday, Sharon told the cabinet that Israel absolutely rejects the ruling of the International Court of Justicein The Hague for it is a "one-sided and politically motivated" ruling.

    He said that the decision sent a destructive message to encourage terror and denounced countries that were defending themselves against it.

    He also accused the court of ignoring "the reason behind the construction of the fence," referring to the anti-Israeli attacks carried out by Palestinian militant groups.

    "To continue the construction of the barrier is the most reasonable measure to take against this criminal terrorism," Sharon said. Enditem
