GAZA, July 7
(Xinhuanet) -- Khader Habib, a spokesman of the Islamic Jihad (Holy War)
movement, revealed on Wednesday that meetings are being held between his
movement and the security apparatuses of the Palestinian National Authority
(PNA) on possible Israeli evacuation.
"These
meetings aim at formulating a vision about the post-Israeli evacuation phase in
the Gaza Strip," but "the meeting are not serious," Habib said in a statement to
the press.
PNA security apparatuses and representatives of
the different factions and movements will also hold meetings soon, Habib said,
denying reports about contacts between his movement and Egypt about halting
firing rockets inside Israel.
"The only ongoing contacts are
between the factions and the PNA,and we are seriously discussing this issue and
the factions will respond about its intention to halt rocket attacks against
Israel during the coming few days," Habib explained.
Palestinian Legislative Council (PLC) chairman Rawhi Fatouh had stated earlier
that the PLC was holding intensified talks with the movements to halt launching
home-made rockets from the Gaza Strip to Israel.
Habib, on the other hand, stressed that the factions are serious about stopping
these rocket attacks only if Israel evacuates all the Gaza Strip territories,
and not only the northern town of Beit Hanoun as demanded by the
PLC.
Habib also voiced doubts about Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon's intentions to evacuate the Gaza Strip, calling on the PNA to stick to the choice of resistance until ousting the Israeli occupation. Enditem |
