Qurei to meet with Quartet representatives

GAZA, July 7 (Xinhuanet) -- Palestinian Prime Minister Ahmed Qurei is due to convene on Wednesday with representatives of the Quartet Committee to discuss the alleged Israeli unilateral evacuation from the Gaza Strip.

Qurei will meet with the US Middle East delegation headed by David Satterfield later Wednesday, a day after a meeting in Jerusalem of representatives of the Quartet -- the United Nations, the United States, the European Union and Russia.

Qurei told reporters earlier that while Israel spoke about a possible evacuation from Gaza, it is expanding Jewish settlements and resuming the construction of its separation wall in the West Bank.

"These activities aimed to annex and alienate Jerusalem and Palestinians will not accept any resolutions based on the expansion of the West Bank and Jerusalem," he said.

Wednesday's meeting will be attended by Qurei, Palestinian chief negotiator Saeb Erekat, Minister of Cooperation Nabil Qasis, Labor Minister Nabil Khatib and Qurei's chief of staff Hassan Abu Lebda. Enditem
