www.chinaview.cn 2004-07-07 09:43:01

BEIJING, July 7 (Xinhuanet) -- A new suspected case of bird flu was found in Thailand Tuesday. Authorities are anxiously awaiting the results of laboratory tests.

¡¡Authorities are anxiously awaiting the results of laboratory tests, which should be known in a few days, CRIENGLISH.com reported Wednesday.

They say that Thailand is well-prepared to control any outbreak.

Earlier this year, bird flu killed 8 people in Thailand.

Last week, the EU extended a ban on imports of fresh chickens from Thailand and nine other Asian countries from August to December to protect itself against a possible spread of bird flu.
