UN Secretary General to visit Kenya

    NAIROBI, July 6 (Xinhuanet) -- The United Nations (UN) Secretary General Kofi Annan is due in Kenya on Wednesday for a two-day official visit, UN officials said here Tuesday.

    A statement from the UN Headquarters in Nairobi said that the secretary general is scheduled to visit the UN's Nairobi Complex later on Wednesday afternoon, and could be expected to meet seniorKenyan officials then.

    Annan will be accompanied by his wife, Nane Annan who will meetNairobi slum children at a special event to be held at the children's meeting place within the UN's Nairobi Complex.

    This will be the second visit by Annan to Kenya since He becamethe UN secretary general.

    Annan is now in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, attending the ongoing third African Union summit.

    He flew to Ethiopia from the Sudan where he had gone to get firsthand assessment of Darfur crisis which his officials described as the world's worst humanitarian crisis. Enditem
