GAZA, July 6 (Xinhuanet) -- The Palestinian National Authority (PNA) condemned Tuesday the latest Israeli army operations in the West Bank and Gaza Strip.

In an official statement, the PNA described the Israeli operations in the West Bank and Gaza Strip towns and refugee camps as "new massacres committed against the innocent Palestinian people."

At least seven Palestinians and one Israeli army officers were killed during the Israeli army operations on Tuesday. Among them, four were killed near the West Bank town of Nablus and three were killed in the Gaza Strip.

"The Israeli military escalation in the West Bank town of Nablusand the rest of the Palestinian territories are carried out hours before the Quartet committee representatives hold their meeting in Jerusalem," Chief Palestinian negotiator Saeb Erekat said.

Meanwhile, he called upon the Quartet Committee "to present timeschedule and mechanisms and teams of observers to implement the roadmap peace plan and stop "the Israeli military aggression against the Palestinians."

"We want the Quartet to answer a question on whether the unilateral plan to withdraw from Gaza is part of the roadmap or an alternative to it," said Erekat. Enditem
