Megawati, Susilo lead vote at polling booths abroad

   JAKARTA, July 6 (Xinhuanet) -- Incumbent Indonesian President Megawati Soekarnoputri and her former chief security minister Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono are dominating the presidential election results coming in from abroad.

   But another contender, People's Consultative Assembly Speaker Amien Rais, has managed to snatch the lead in several overseas cities, The Jakarta Post online news service reported Tuesday.

   In Australia, Megawati has received a total of 2,061 votes in Melbourne, Perth and Sidney. In the capital Canberra, Amien tops the voting, while Susilo leads in Darwin.

   Megawati has received 12 votes in the Latvian capital Riga, followed closely by Susilo with 11 votes.

   In East Timor, it was reported that Susilo has received 314 votes followed by Megawati with 242 votes.

   Susilo commanded an infantry battalion whose members were East Timorese when East Timor was still an Indonesian province.

   Former Indonesian armed forces commander Wiranto has received 80 votes in the newly independent country.

   Susilo also tops the vote count in Brunei with 630 votes, while Megawati has 471 votes, followed closely by Amien with 440 votes.

   In Moscow, Susilo was in the lead with 38 votes, followed by Amien with 31 and Megawati with 30 votes. The Indonesian Embassy in Moscow also serves Kazakhstan and Mongolia.

  Amien enjoys a commanding lead in Dubai with 257 votes, followed by Susilo with 178 votes. Megawati is trailing far behind with 94 votes.

   Megawati leads the vote in San Francisco, California, with 184 votes. Susilo has 141 votes and Amien is in third with 56 votes.

   In other American cities, Susilo maintains a lead over Megawati. The results, however, are subject to change as voters can mail in their ballots.

   Megawati enjoys a lead in Germany with 199 votes followed by Amien with 153 votes.  Enditem
