GAZA, July 6 (Xinhuanet) -- Two Palestinian militants were shot dead early Tuesday by Israeli troops near the central Gaza Strip crossroad of Kissufim near the border with Israel, Palestinian security sources reported.
The two Palestinian militants were on their way to carry out a suicide bombing attack, the sources said, adding that an Israeli army patrol stationed near the crossroad noticed the two men and opened fire at them.
Israel Radio reported that explosive materials were found with the two militants and explosives experts detonated them.
Palestinian security sources said that the two bodies are still in the hands of the Israeli soldiers, adding that as soon as the Israeli army finishes checking the bodies, they would be transferred to the Palestinian side.
Earlier Monday, four Palestinians were shot dead by Israeli troops in the West Bank city of Nablus, among them two militants, a father who was a university professor and his son. Enditem |
