town of Beit Hanun when Israeli troops opened fire on stonethrowing youths
protesting against the ongoing military incursion, mourn at his home prior to
his funeral in Gaza City 04 July 2004. The Israeli troops pressed on with the
incursion in Beit Hanun, in what the army said was a bid to stop militants from
using the area as a launchpad for firing Qassam rockets at Israel. (Xinhua/AFP

GAZA, July 3 (Xinhuanet) -- A 16-year-old Palestinian
youth from the northern Gaza Strip village of Beit Hanoun was killed by Israeli
troops on Saturday evening, medics said.
The Palestinian
teenager was severely injured in the head by the gunfire of Israeli Apache
helicopters and suffered clinical death. He later died of his wounds, according
to the medical sources.
He was together with dozens of young
men standing on the outskirts of the village when the attack occurred, the
medics said.
Palestinian witnesses said the Israeli army
operation into the village continued for the sixth day, adding that Apache
helicopters fired intensive gunfire from machine guns at the
residents.
The helicopters fired at a local car that was
driving east of Jabalya near Beit Hanoun, the witnesses said, adding that three
militants in the car managed to jump out and survived the attack.
