LONDON, July 2 (Xinhuanet) -- A pilot who was breath-tested after being arrested in the cockpit of a plane about to leave Heathrow Airport has been suspended, Royal Brunei Airlines confirmed Friday.
Charles Nicholls, a 53-year-old Briton who has worked for the airline for 10 years, was due to fly the plane to Brunei when he was arrested at Heathrow Airport's Terminal 3, in west London, on Tuesday morning.
Police said he was bailed to return in mid-August pending further inquires.
The airline said Nicholls would remain suspended while an international investigation was carried out.
The British government recently introduced new regulations which make airline staff and ships' crews subject to police breathtests.
British Airways announced it was introducing its own drug and alcohol tests last week. Enditem |
