LOS ANGELES, June 30 (Xinhuanet) -- US-European spaceship Cassini on Wednesday became the first man-made craft to enter the orbit ofSaturn, the second largest planet in the solar system.

Cassini fired its retrorocket at 7:36 p.m. US Pacific time (0236 GMT Thursday) to slow down its speed from 78,400 km to about 2,200 km per hour in 96 minutes, enabling the gravity of Saturn todrag it into an orbit around the ringed planet. Enditem
