MEXICO CITY, June 30 (Xinhuanet) -- Iranian Foreign Minister Kamal Kharrazi
said Wednesday that his country will resume the building of centrifuges, but the
work is not aimed at making nuclear bombs.
"We are building seven nuclear installations over the next 20 years under the
supervision of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA)," Kharrazi told
reporters during his visit to Mexico.
"They have the assurance that we have no intention toward nuclear arms and
our work is legal," he added.
Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Hamid-Reza Asefi said Sundaythat Iran
will resume centrifuges building on Tuesday but still suspend uranium
enrichment.
The announcement came several days after the IAEA adopted a resolution
rebuking Iran for failing to come clean about its nuclear program.
The resolution submitted by France, Germany and Britain, which had
persuaded Tehran to halt the building of nuclear facilities and suspend the
enrichment of uranium last year, was passed on June 18 by the agency's 35-member
board of governors.
Kharrazi is on an official visit to Mexico, which is a member of the IAEA's
board of governors. Enditem |
