WASHINGTON, June 30 (Xinhuanet) -- The US Federal Reserve decided Wednesday to raise the federal funds rate by a quarter-point to 1.25 percent from a 1958 low of one percent. This is the first time in four years the Fed increases the rate.

    The decision was made by the Federal Open Market Committee, the Fed's policy-making body, during a two-day meeting beginning on Tuesday. Enditem
