PARIS, June 29 (Xinhuanet) -- The French parliament, with the only votes of the right wing, passed Tuesday the reform bill to change the status of the two state-owned utility companies, Electricity of France (EDF) and Gas of France (GDF), despite strong waves of strikes.
The main reforms to the two companies include: transformation of the EDF and GDF into corporations by opening their capital; the state stake remaining 70 percent; workers retaining their current job status and retirement benefits scheme; the EDF being able to sell gas to its clients while the GDF entering the electricity market, etc. Enditem
