BEIJING, June 28 (Xinhuanet) -- Microsoft chairman Bill Gates and
Australian Prime Minister have launched a community initiative to help
disadvantaged Australians overcome the digital divide.
Under Microsoft's Unlimited Potential program, the company will give five Australian charities
40 million Australian dollars over five years to build community technology
learning centres.
Microsoft said the centres would provide access to technology training
advice and support.
Howard said he believed the program would help thousands of Australians
achieve a greater degree of technological literacy.
Gates said the program would make a positive difference to the lives of
people who felt isolated through a lack of technological skills.
