GAZA, June 27 (Xinhuanet) -- Al-Qassam Brigades, the armed wing of the Islamic resistance movement Hamas, claimed on Sunday responsibility for firing mortars against a Jewish settlement in the southern Gaza Strip.

"Our militants fired five mortar rockets against the Jewish settlement of Moraj, north of Rafah city before returning safely to their base," the group said in a leaflet.

The leaflet also condemned the killing of the brigades' leader Mohamad Al-Masri, 26, during the Israeli military operations in the West bank city of Nablus on Saturday.

A member of Al-Quds brigades, the military wing of the Islamic Jihad (Holy War) movement, and five members of Al-Aqsa brigades, the armed wing of the Fatah movement, were also killed.

The leaflet said that the brigades will walk in the footsteps of the seven Palestinians and will remain committed to the legitimate resistance until ending the Israeli occupation of the Palestinian territories.  Enditem
