Vietnam, Laos sign banking cooperation deal

    HANOI, June 24 (Xinhuanet) -- Vietnam and Laos signed a memorandumof understanding on banking cooperation in Vientiane, Laos, onThursday, Lao News Agency reported.

    Under the memo, signed by Deputy Governor of the State Bank ofVietnam (SBV) Phung Khac Ke and his Laos counterpart PhuphetKhamphunvong, the two sides will continue implementing theirsigned agreements, including the exchange of visits andinformation, and the amendment to the payment agreement betweenthe two countries.

    They will also create favorable conditions for the Laos-VietnamJoint Venture Bank to effectively operate and help other banks ofthe two countries to share experiences and boost cooperation.The Vietnamese side will send banking experts to help their Laocolleagues, said the report.

    Last year, the SBV's experts attended seminars on open markets,management of foreign currencies, capital circulation, and ITutilization in Laos. The SBV has also helped train 20 bankingexperts for the Laos State Bank. Enditem
