Chinese CPPCC chairman meets Vietnamese FM

    BEIJING, June 24 (Xinhuanet)-- Jia Qinglin, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), met with Vietnamese Minister of Foreign Affairs Nguyen Dzy Nien, here Thursday.

    Jia said bilateral relations are good on the whole. "The leaders of the two countries have maintained contacts, progress have been made in cooperation in various fields and issues left over by history are also being resolved step by step."

    "All of these are gained by great efforts by the two sides and we should value them and maintain the good relations," Jia acknowledged.

    He noted that the Communist Party of China and the Chinese government attach great importance to the friendly and mutually beneficial ties with Vietnam and are ready to further advance the relations with the guidance of the consensus reached recently by the leaders of both countries.

    China is also willing to solve the issues between the two nations properly, push bilateral relations to a new level and become a good neighbor, good friend and good partner with Vietnam,Jia added.

    Nguyen Dzy Nien agreed with Jia, saying that Vietnam is also willing to further propel the relations with China.

    The two sides also conferred on economic and trade exchanges and cooperation.

    Nguyen Dzy Nien is visiting China from June 23 to 25 at the invitation of Chinese Foreign Minister Li Zhaoxing. Enditem
