BUENOS AIRES, June 17 (Xinhuanet) -- Chelsea striker Hernan Crespohas been
dropped by Argentina coach Marcelo Bielsa from the national side on Wednesday
night for next month's Copa America in Peru.
The coach named a list of 12 foreign-based players for the July 6-25
tournament.
Midfielders Pablo Aimar and Juan Roman Riquelme were also left out, due to
injuries.
Bielsa seemed to blood more home-based players at the tournament.
Defender Walter Samuel, newly acquired by Real Madrid, was alsonot on the
list although he could be added by the June 22 deadlineby when Bielsa will have
included home-based players in his squad.
Gabriel Heinze, who has just joined Manchester United from Paris St
Germain, was included along with fellow defender Facundo Quiroga who has signed
for VfL Wolfsburg of Germany.
Bielsa is also preparing the under-23 side for the Olympic Games in Athens
in August.
Argentina, who will play in Group B in the northern Peruvian cities of
Chiclayo and Piura with Mexico, Uruguay and Ecuador, play two warm-up matches in
the United States later this month.
They meet Colombia in Miami on June 27 and Peru in New York three days
later.
