KABUL, June 13 (Xinhuanet) --An acting spokesman of
the UN Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) said Sunday that it hoped for a
speedy investigation into the brutal murdering of 11 Chinese construction
workers in northern Afghanistan.
"We are optimistic the investigation is taking place and we hope the investigation conclude quickly,"
acting spokesman of UNAMA Edward Carwardine told Xinhua.
"I am sure that the result of the investigation as
appropriate will be made public in due course," he further stressed.
Eleven Chinese workers were murdered and four others
injured early Thursday in a cowardly terrorist act conducted by a gang of
unknown armed men in Jalowgir area, 36 km south of Kunduz city, the capital of
Kunduz province.
Provincial authorities have so far detained four
suspects in this connection but refused to disclose their identity on the
security grounds.
