TOKYO, June 7 (Xinhuanet) -- An earthquake registering an estimated magnitude of 5.0 on the Richter scale hit north Japan's Hokkaido and Tohoku regions Monday afternoon, the Japan Meteorological Agency said.
There were no immediate reports of casualties or damage from the 1:14 p.m. (0414 GMT) quake. No tsunami warning was issued.
The temblor measured 3 on the Japanese seismic intensity scale of 7 in Kushiro, eastern Hokkaido, according to the agency.
Its focus was about 70 kilometers under the surface of the sea off Kushiro, the agency said. Enditem
