79 with fever, diarrhea symptoms discharged in Shaanxi

    XI'AN, June 4 (Xinhuanet) -- Seventy-nine patients who were treated for fever and diarrhea from the Junior Taijihe Middle School in Shaanxi province, northwestern China, have left hospital,local educational departments said on Friday.

    On May 17, some kids and teachers in the Taijihe school in Shangnan county reported symptoms of fever, headache, bellyache and diarrhea. As of May 27, the number of disease sufferers exceeded 70.

    Investigation showed that more than 200 school kids and teachers suffered the illness at some time, which was confirmed asan infective diarrhea caused by the IV dysenteric bacillus by the provincial diseases control centers.

    There have been no new cases spotted since May 31 and the hospitalized have nearly been restored to full health, noted the source.

    To stem the spread of the illness, all schools in the county had conducted an overall disinfection of their dining rooms, dormitories, classrooms and lavatories. Enditem
