LONDON, June 3 (Xinhuanet) -- The computer system in Britain's airtraffic control service has returned to normal after a temporary breakdown and all flights at British airports are fully operational again, a spokesman for the National Air Traffic Services said Thursday.
All flights into and out of London's Heathrow
airport, the largest in Europe, had been suspended earlier in the day due to the
computer failure, British Airways (BA) said.
A spokeswoman for the BA said the computer at the
National Air Traffic Services in Swanwick, southern England, went down at about6
a.m. (0600 GMT).
The computer glitch also grounded many flights in
other airports and the Heathrow airport said the delay could last for at least
two hours, according to British media.
About 20 BA flights, both domestic and international,
are expected to depart from Heathrow after the delay. The airline company
operates 800 flights a day from Heathrow and London's second airport Gatwick.
The situation at Heathrow airport was once "chaotic,"
according to British media. Enditem |
