Her fists do the talking

BEIJING, June 1 (Xinhuanet) -- According to 21 century, "sassy" Korean actress Jeon Ji-hyun is back, kicking and punching in a new movie, "Windstruck".

Two years after the super success of the love comedy "My Sassy Girl" across Asia, her new film opens in Beijing on June 4. Once again, Jeon plays an action girl with a pitiful boyfriend who suffers her violent love.

"It's not going to be 'My Sassy Girl 2', although the movie was made by the same director and actress," said the film's producer Choi Soo-young. But he admits that the film's plot, another unusual "heroine-saves-gentleman" story, seems tailored for Jeon.

She plays police officer Yeo Kyungjin, who catches high school teacher Go Myungwoo (played by Jang Hyuk) after mistaking him for a purse-snatcher. They soon agree to work together, saving students from drug abusers.

However, things don't always go according to plan and at one point, they are accidentally locked together in a pair of handcuffs. Sensitive to Kyungjin's outgoing nature, Myungwoo is always trying to protect her from trouble. But somehow, he always ends up being rescued by Kyungjin instead.

"I do enjoy playing the warm-hearted, brave and outgoing policewoman," Jeon said with a giggle. "I think we share some of the same characteristics ... but I never beat anyone up."

Her colleagues agree that Jeon is not violent in real life.

"She's very polite," said Taiwanese director Kong Wenyan, who has worked with her in the past. "Every time she left the studio, she bowed to us and said 'thanks'."

Jeon said: "I fought with boys only when I was a child and usually over toys. I was often the winner because my older brother always came to help me out."

Jeon started her career as a model in 1997 and went on to appear in several little-known TV series. It was "My Sassy Girl" that made her famous and this means "Windstruck" is getting a lot of attention.

Despite this, Jeon is still focussed on her classes at Dankook University in South Korea. "I always try to find time to finish my homework. I'd like to be a good actress, and a good student as well."
