Urgent: Brahimi "respects" Iraqi council's decision on PM: spokesman

    UNITED NATIONS, May 28 (Xinhuanet) -- United Nations envoy Lakhdar Brahimi "respects" the Iraqi Governing Council's decision to nominate Iyad Allawi as prime minister of the interim Iraqi government to be formed soon, a UN spokesman said.

    Spokesman Fred Eckhard told reporters that Brahimi will work with the prime minister-designate on the formation of the new government. Enditem
