Erekat denies reports about Egypt's troops deployment on border

GAZA, May 27 (Xinhuanet) -- Palestinian chief negotiator Saeb Erekat on Thursday denied reports that Egypt will deploy 700 troops on the borderline between Gaza Strip and Egypt in case of an Israeli pullout.

Speaking to Ramallah-based Al Ayyam Daily, Erekat said "all what had been said about redeploying Egyptian security forces on the borders are just untrue rumors".

"All what Egypt has promised is to help reorganize and reestablish the Palestinian security forces in the Gaza Strip," said Erekat.

He said sending Egyptian security forces to train Palestinian officers would coincide with sending Jordanian security officers to the West Bank town of Jericho for the same purpose.  Enditem
