UNITED NATIONS, May 24 (Xinhuanet) -- The United States and Britain presented on Monday a draft United Nations resolution detailing the June 30 handover of power to a provisional Iraqi government.

    The draft, obtained by Xinhua, gives the United Nations a leading role in assisting the Iraqi people in the formation of thenew Iraqi government.

    It also calls for the holding of direct elections anytime from Dec. 31 to Jan. 31, 2005, to a transitional Iraqi parliament, which will draft a permanent constitution for the country. Enditem
