CAIRO, May 9 (Xinhuanet) -- The Arab foreign ministers on Sunday continued their meetings for the second consecutive day to prepare for the coming Arab summit tentatively scheduled for May 22-23.
Tunisian Foreign Minister Habib bin Yahia chaired the meetings and Arab League Secretary General Amr Moussa attended.
The ministers will complete their discussion of items tabled on the agenda, including reforms issue and restructuring the Arab league.
During their closed-door meetings on Saturday, the ministers discussed the latest developments of the Palestinian cause, the Arab-Israeli conflict and the present situation in Iraq.
The summit of the 22-member Arab League, which had been scheduled on March 29-30, was postponed by the host Tunisia due to differences among Arab countries over regional situation and political reforms.
Following consultations among regional countries, Moussa has announced that most Arab leaders have agreed to reconvene their summit on May 22-23, still in Tunisia.
A final decision on the date is expected to be announced after the ministerial meeting. Enditem |
