GAZA, May 8 (Xinhuanet) -- The Israeli army stationed northeast of Gaza City shot dead on Saturday night two Palestinian militants whoapproached the border between Israel and the Gaza Strip,Palestinian security sources said.

    The sources aid that the soldiers saw the two Palestinians approaching the border and immediately fired intensive gunfire andseveral tanks shells.

    However, Israel Radio reported that the Israeli soldiers shotand killed only one Palestinian on the road that leads to theJewish settlement of Nitzarim northeast of Gaza City.The radio said that the soldiers killed an armed Palestinian who approached an Israeli army outpost near the Netzarim junction inthe Gaza Strip on Saturday night.

    It added that the soldiers would search the area on Sunday morning to find out what kind of weapons the man was carrying. Nobodies were handed over to the Palestinian side. Enditem
