CHANGSHA, May 8 (Xinhuanet) -- The bodies of three
people have been discovered from under the remains of houses torn down by a
landslide on Friday evening in Qidong County, central China's Hunan Province,
said a local official Saturday.
Since 10:00 a.m. Friday, heavy
rains pounded for nearly seven hours in Gaoyuan Village, Baihepu Town, leading
to the landslide of more than 30,000 cubic meters of soil and stones.
As of Saturday noon, the landslide had destroyed 52
houses, 21 of which had collapsed, leaving four villagers buried under the
remains.
One villager was saved after a team of 150 rescuers
