CAIRO, May 8 (Xinhuanet) -- A three-day meeting of Arab foreign ministers opened here Saturday in preparation for a upcoming Arab summit.

The meeting was opened by Tunisian Foreign Minister Habib benYahia. Foreign ministers of Comoros, Morocco and The United Arab Emirates did not attended the meeting.

After the opening ceremony, it turned into a closed-door meeting.

The meeting of foreign ministers was held to prepare for reconvening a postponed Arab summit, which had been scheduled on March 29-30, but was postponed by the host Tunisia due to differences among Arab countries over regional situation and political reforms.

Following consultations among regional countries, Arab League Secretary-General Amr Moussa has announced that most Arab leaders have agreed to reconvene their summit on May 22-23, still in Tunisia. A final decision on the date is expected to be announced after the ministerial meeting.

During the meeting here, the foreign ministers will also seek common positions among the countries on Iraq and the Israeli-Palestinian conflict as well as reforms in the region, sources of the pan-Arab organization said. Enditem
