At least five killed, 35 wounded in Karachi bomb explosion

    ISLAMABAD, May 7 (Xinhuanet) -- At least five people were killed and 35 others wounded on Friday in a powerful bomb explosion at a Shiite Muslim mosque in Pakistan's southern city of Karachi, the police said.

    The explosion occurred shortly after 1 p.m., the hour of Friday prayers.

    Ambulances rushed to the explosion scene. The police said several of the wounded people were in critical condition.
