Middle East Quartet rejects unilateral actions

  ¡¡UNITED NATIONS, May 4 (Xinhuanet) -- The Middle East Quartet said Tuesday that it rejects any unilateral actions taken by parties inthe region.

    "Any final settlement on issues on borders and refugees must bemutually agreed to by Israelis and Palestinians," UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan told a press conference after the Quartet meeting at the UN headquarters in New York.

    In his opening remarks, the UN chief said that no party should take unilateral actions that "seek to predetermine issues" that can only be resolved through negotiation and agreement between thetwo parties. Enditem
