WASHINGTON, May 3 (Xinhuanet) - A strong earthquake measuring 6.6 on the Richter scale hit near the coast of Chile early on Monday, the US Geological Survey said.

    But there were no immediate reports of casualties or damages.

    The US Geological Survey said the quake occurred at 0436 GMT inthe Pacific Ocean, about 90 km south of the Chilean city of Concepcion. Enditem
