30 dead, 33 injured in bus accident in western Nepal

    KATHMANDU, May 1 (Xinhuanet) -- At least 30 persons died and 33 others injured when a passenger bus fell down from the highway in Palpa district in western Nepal Saturday morning, Radio Nepal reported.

    The bus fell about 200 meters down on the Siddharth highway at Dhaireni of Chidipani village in Palpa district, 250 km west of kathmandu.

    At least 29 persons died on the spot and anther one died on wayto hospital, the state-run radio quoted a local security official as saying.

    Among the injured 33 persons admitted in Palpa mission hospital, the condition of three is said to be very serious, the official said on condition of anonymity.

    It is suspected that the accident occurred due to the brake failure of the bus, he noted. Enditem
