ADDIS ABABA April 29 (Xinhuanet) -- A bomb exploded in Addis Ababa University on Thursday night, injuring at least four students, the state-owned Ethiopian Television reported.

More than 100 parents of the students in the university gathered at the gate, just a few minutes after the television report, waiting anxiously for any message about their children.

A middle-aged man told Xinhua "I know this from the television.I will not leave until I am sure that my child is safe."

The Ethiopian police blockade the university soon after the explosion, only those with student certificate can enter the campus after being thoroughly checked.

There were reports suspecting the rebel Oromo Liberation Front (OLF) staged the attack, however, the Ethiopian authorities did not confirm the suspicion.

The OLF rebels have been fighting for the independence of the southern Oromia region from the Addis Ababa government since 1993. Enditem
