GAZA, April 29 (Xinhuanet) -- Israeli troops demolished on Thursday two houses near the northern West Bank city of Nablus, Palestinian security sources reported.

They said the soldiers stormed into Soura village and opened intensive gunfire at Palestinians before evacuating the residents from the two houses owned by Palestinians detained in Israeli jails and dynamiting them.

In another development, Israeli army carried out campaigns in Ramallah city, arresting four Palestinians in the heart of the cityand the neighboring village of Birzeit and taking them to an unknown destination.

The Israeli army announced Thursday that it will dig a trench along the southern Gaza Strip's borderline with Egypt and this stepwould prevent Palestinians from smuggling weapons into the strip.

According to Israeli military sources, bids for this project would be announced in May.

The trench would be 4 Km long and established near the southern strip city and refugee camp of Rafah, they said, adding that this trench will be along with an Israeli military security fence previously established by the Israeli army on the Palestinian-Egyptian border. Enditem
