KAMPALA, April 28 (Xinhuanet) -- Cholera has broken out in eight of the 56 districts in Uganda.
The districts, including Kampala, capital of the country, have continued to report significant number of cholera cases since the beginning of this year, the Ugandan Health Ministry said here Tuesday.
"As the rains increase, there is a likelihood of an upsurge of diarrhetic diseases such as cholera in several parts of the country," it said.
So far seven people are sick while two have been reported dead,said the ministry in a statement.
It called for strict personal and community hygiene and urged people to wash hands with soap before preparing, serving and eating food.
The ministry also called for boiling all drinking water, cooking food thoroughly, keeping it covered and eating it while hot.
It warned the public against drinking locally prepared packed cold water and juices. Enditem
