China bags 10 golds in Asian fencing championships

    MANILA, April 26 (Xinhuanet) -- Chinese fencers picked up two moregolds out of the team saber events on the last day on Monday, to come out the overall champions with 10 gold medals of the Asian fencing championships here.

    For men's team saber, Chinese fencers Cai Lin, Zhong Man, Chen Baijie and Li Jia defeated the South Korean team 45-33 for the title while Zhao Yuanyuan, Cao Yan, Sun Henan, Chen Yanhong teamedup for the women's team crown after beating the Japanese 45-37.

    On Sunday, China regained the gold medals of men's and women's team foil, brushing aside Japan and South Korea 45-30 and 45-26 respectively.

    On Saturday, Chinese fencers defeated South Koreans 45-35 to take the women's team epee title, while the Kazakhs beat the Iranians 45-35 in the finals to bag the men's team title.

    China had claimed five golds out of the six earlier individual events thanks to Zhong Man (men's saber), Zhao Yuanyuan (women's saber), Zhu Jun (men's foil), Su Wanwen (women's foil) and Tan Li (women's epee), with South Korea's Kim Won Jin winning the gold ofmen's epee.
